The Sandpoint Alliance for Equality is a 501c3 non-profit organization in North Idaho. Their Mission is to dismantle hostility, increase equality, and cultivate inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community throughout Idaho.

The Selkirk Mountain Writing Retreat is a program of SAFE, designed to be an inclusive and learning environment, where we uplift and celebrate all marginalized voices, queer or otherwise. If you write, or you want to write, you are WELCOME.

As part of our programming, we’re investing in the arts, and in a broader reach, because:

1. We value humans in all the shapes, ideologies, backgrounds, beliefs, opinions, histories, identities, ages, colors, religions, and marvelous varieties they come in. 

2. We value democracy and its continued establishment of fundamental freedoms and human rights.

3. We value our local community and believe all voices should be represented in the broader conversation.

And here at the Selkirk Mountain Writing Retreat, we value the power of words, freedom of expression, and the joy of art, as indispensable and necessary forms of activism.
